How to Look After Curly Hair

Curly hair can either be a pain in the backside or a girls dream. Majority of the time it’s a pain in the backside; but it doesn’t always have to be.
I have always had curly hair, ever since I was a baby. For a long time it was what made me, me, because I never used to straighten my hair. I used to embrace the curly, frizzy mess that was my hair. Since discovering straighteners when I was around 14, I found myself loving my curls less. I began to neglect them and I soon found they became more frizzy than ringlet curls.
As I’ve got older and as I’ve been blogging more; it’s become so important for me to look after my hair. I’m forever trying new styles which can require heat, dying my hair and all sorts – and we all know hair can become damaged very quickly.
Recently I have found a hair care routine which is helping me to maintain my hair, prevent split ends and stop my hair from frizzing.

Shampoo & Conditioner

I cannot tell y0u how many different brands of shampoo & conditioner I have gone through over the years. I have tried ones for coloured hair, curly hair, damaged hair, etc. Now, I can finally say that I have a trusty pairing that makes my hair feel so good after a shower.
I use the Natural World Brazilian Keratin Shampoo & Conditioner and oh my goodness, they are incredible. The “Brazilian Keratin” range includes Bio-minetic Keritan, which targets to repair the most damaged areas of the hair’s surface, control frizz and restore shine and softness.
I use one pump of the shampoo on my hair, rub it in thoroughly, rinse and repeat once more. After two rounds of shampoo, I use the conditioner and leave it in for a good 10 minutes before rinsing. During this 10 minutes I’ll wash my face, body and usually shave my legs (WHICH THE CONDITIONER IS GREAT FOR BY THE WAY, NO CUTS OR BLEEDS.)
You can buy the 1L shampoo here for £4.00 and the 1L conditioner here for £4.00.

 Post Shower Care

The post shower care is very important in maintaining good healthy hair. There are so many hair oils, serums and sprays you can buy but there are that many to choose from, it’s hard to know which ones are worth it.
For me personally, I like to keep it simple and keep to as little products as possible. Before I dry my hair I use two products to help lock in moisture and prevent my hair from being damage from the hair dryer heat.

My first product is the L’Oreal Paris Studio Pro Heat It Hot & Big Protecting Spray on my damp, towel dried hair. This spray smells very fresh and fruity and helps to keep that moisture locked in and helps to keep my hair nice and soft. A lot of the time I find that my hair can feel very dry after it is dried and it can feel very split and horrible. However, I just spray this all over my hair and it works wonders. You can buy the spray here for £3.00.

The second product I use on the ends of my hair and also in my roots is the Natural World Brazilian Hair Treatment Oil. Now I’m not usually one of using oils at all because I think it leaves my hair looking greasy and feeling disgusting; but this one has completely changed my mind. This has prevented so many split ends and prevented my roots from frizzing that I owe my life to this oil. I only use a pea sized amount for my ends and roots for it does go a long way. You can buy the oil here for £3.33.
