Mother’s day is the one day of the year where you have the excuse to spoil your mum, step-mum, grandma, guardian (or anyone of a mother figure to you) rotten and she can’t say anything. I particularly love this day because my mumma does so much for me every single day and so instead of buying her presents this year, I decided to take her out.
I took mum out on Thursday 8th, a few days before Mothering Sunday, because that was the day I had her surprise planned..so we celebrated a little bit early. But it was quite fitting because that Thursday was International Women’s Day. A day of celebrating the success of women around the globe and feeling proud to be a female. Because I know I am!
On Thursday afternoon mum and I set off to London for the day and poor Kaz had no idea where she was going. I think she felt safe in my hands though because she knows I’m in London quite a lot and can work my way around the tubes and everything – but I hope she didn’t panic lol. Little did she know that we were attending a Mother’s Day Pamper Party, hosted by the incredible Alex Silver girls.
When we walked into the beautiful Cafe de Paris in the centre of Piccadilly Circus, we were amazed at how big and beautiful the venue really was. From the outside it doesn’t look like much but with high ceilings, a gorgeous chandelier inside and lots of beauty stations for treatments – a girl couldn’t ask for anymore!
There were massage stations, spray tan booths, manicures, makeovers and hair styling tables to treat yourself and your ma. The Alex Silver girls really pulled it out the bag for this special occassion!
There was a free bar for us to enjoy a variety of cocktails, wine and bubbles which was delightful – the gin cocktails were incredible!
The day was appropriately named #SPAWITHYOURMA so in true style, I let mum lead the way. She first picked to have her nails done by the KISS girls and we both chose beautiful glitter gel nails (in the style Fanciful) that could be glued or pressed on, depending on your person preference. I thought it was quite cute that we were matching if I’m honest (#motherdaughtergoals.)
A girl always feels so much better after having her nails done but there is nothing better than a facial. Mum and I wandered up to the second floor where the massage and facial tables were based and booked in a facial each. I’ve never had a facial before so I was really excited for my first experience, but not so impressed that I had to take all my makeup off.
But let me tell you, this facial with Atlantis Skincare was incredible. All the products are natural, vegan and had a really strong smell of freshness – I know that sounds slightly strange but that’s the only way I can explain the smell. The facial lasted around 15 minutes and afterwards I felt brand new. My skin felt so soft and didn’t feel oily which is a miracle with my skin.
With no makeup on our faces, it was time to head down to the Joan Collins Timeless Beauty station to get some slap back on our faces. I’ve used some Joan Collins products before and absolutely love them; the skin perfecting powder has become my go to product every single day.
The makeover station was heaven on earth – makeup galore. There were foundations, concealers, powders, bronzers, blush and some incredible lipsticks which are perfect for Spring. The lovely lady who did my makeup was so chatty and friendly which was lovely to see because in that moment, she is representing the brand. The face of the brand is so important and the girls from Joan Collins really did a good job.
There was so much fun to be had but after me queued for over an hour to get our HD brows done – it was time for mumma and I to head home (but our brows did look insane so it was definitely worth the waiting time.) We were going to go for a Nando’s but instead we headed home and ordered a pizza – classic Gooch takeaway choice.
I would like to thank the Bianca and all the Alex Silver girls for our invitation and for setting up such an amazing event so I could treat my mum, it was very special and not a day we’ll forget in a hurry x
