The Body Shop is an overall staple brand in my skincare collection. Their products are so affordable despite their high quality and it’s amazing to see a brand completely animal cruelty free. Last month I went to the launch of the banana range at the Reading store and that was such a fun night – so when I was asked to attend an event at their flag ship store in Stratford I jumped at the chance. I love a good Westfields trip because they have a Missguided store which makes me really happy, but it also just has so much variety compared to my local Mall.
Arriving at the store after work a few weeks ago, I immediately noticed the difference between a regular store and a flag ship store. It was absolutely stunning, huge in size and the displays were second to none. There were baskets filled with products, huge displays and ranges separated by scents, skin types, etc. The store was recently renovated and other stores will soon follow with a complete revamp and fresh new look.
Before the introduction to the event (along with the showcase of the new products), I wandered around the store and made a mental note of everything I wanted to buy that evening. I don’t often treat myself to new skin or body care products because it never really crosses my mind. But over the last few months I’ve really upped my skincare game, thrown out a load of old makeup that was probably causing me spots, and I’ve become a new person.
I’ve always suffered with sensitive and oily skin on my face so I’ve always been conscious of the face wash, creams and face masks I use – but it never occurred to me to do the same with my body. For years I’ve suffered with itchy skin once I get out of the shower or bath, and I always put it down to the heat. So to finally learn it might be the products I’m using, it’s changed the game for me. I threw a load of products away, gave them to my mum or charity shops, if they’re unopened, before going to the flag ship store because I knew I wanted to pick up some goodies from the sensitive skin range, and my list was fairly large.
But before I could shop, the gorgeous James came round with glasses of bubbly and talked us through their new releases and what we could expect from the evening.
Makeup and skincare appointments were available to learn which products are good for your skin type, arm massages and many more one to one chats about the ranges and the goodness stored within them.
With a blogger discount that evening as well as some free goodies went you spent over £25, I did not hold back with the plastic card. I’d saved up quite a bit of my money for this trip as I knew I wanted to treat myself, so this gave me all the more reason! With a glass of prosecco in one hand and a basket in the other, I set off around the store with my shopping list.
There are so many different ranges in the body shop for all different skin and hair types; you’ve got your sensitive skin ranges, products to combat dryness, shampoos for flaky scalps and dandruff like the Ginger Anti-Dandruff Shampoo. The range I was keen to get my hands on was the Almond Milk and Honey range because it’s soothing, calming and more importantly, ideal for sensitive skin.
I’d heard good things about this range so I really wanted to give it a go…so I ended up putting the Almond Milk & Honey Calming & Caring Bath Milk and the Almond Milk & Honey Gently Exfoliating Cream in my basket. I was also going to out the Almond Milk Body Yogurt in my basket but if I spent over £25 I would get this free at the checkout, so I ended up with it free in the end which was a bonus.
At the last event in Reading I had tried a couple of products from the Banana range and absolutely fell in love with them so I had to stock up whilst I was there. I repurchased my favourite hair products which are the Banana Truly Nourishing Shampoo, the Banana Truly Nourishing Conditioner and I also bought the Banana Truly Nourishing Hair Mask because I’ve been enjoying the shampoo and conditioner so much. As well as their hair care products in the range, I adore the Banana Body Yogurt from the skincare range. Despite it being specifically for sensitive skin, the yogurt doesn’t irritate my skin and it leaves such a scent to your skin that lasts virtually all day if you don’t wear any or much perfume. The yogurts are ideal for applying straight after a shower or bath if you have to go out because they absorb into the skin instantly which doesn’t leave your skin feeling sticky!
As well those goodies, I picked up the All In One BB Cream for my mum to take on her holiday, the Shea Body Butter, Shea Hand Cream, Mango Body Butter and Mango Hand Cream for my work wife and the Strawberry Body Polish and Strawberry Body Yogurt for my Auntie.
